Pecan Tassies

  3             ounces  cream cheese -- softened
     1/2           cup  butter
  1                cup  all-purpose flour
     1/4      teaspoon  salt
                        -- Filling --
  1                     egg -- beaten
     3/4           cup  brown sugar
  2        tablespoons  butter -- softened
     1/4      teaspoon  salt
  1           teaspoon  vanilla
  1                cup  chopped pecans

Mix pastry ingredients to blend, then chill.

Form the pastry into 24 balls, then press it into the bottom and sides
of ungreased miniature muffin tins.

For the filling, beat together all ingredients, except the pecans.

Sprinkle a few nuts in the bottom of each pastry shell, and pour the
filling over the nuts to fill the to 3/4 full

Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes, until the filling is set.

Cool slightly and run a knife around the edges to remove.
